Article XVII - Peace Towns

An historic Cherokee peace town was a town where bloodshed was forbidden.  Blood shed was defined as the intentional or purposeful death of a human.
It was a city where those accused of murder could go for refuge until their hearing or trial.  Here, they were safe from retribution.

However, it was also customary to not slay or butcher any animal within its limits either.
The state chapters are to submit recommendations for a peace town within their state boundaries to the national council of principal chiefs who will deliberate and vote to ratify one peace town in each state chapter.

The peace town is not to be confused with the state capital, which is selected as the headquarters of the state by each state chapter.

more information about the peace town is located in HANDBOOK part 3
